Your First Psychic Medium Event: What to Expect

Walking into your first psychic medium evening can feel a little like standing outside a restaurant you've never tried before. You're curious, maybe a little nervous, and not entirely sure what's on the menu. Whether you're a firm believer in the spirit world or simply keeping an open mind, that mix of excitement and uncertainty is completely normal, and honestly, it's part of what makes these evenings so memorable.

If you're based in Lincolnshire and you've been thinking about attending a live mediumship event, this guide is for you. We're going to walk you through exactly what to expect, how to prepare, and how to get the most out of your evening.

What Actually Happens at a Live Mediumship Evening

A live psychic medium event isn't like anything you'd see on television. There are no smoke machines, no dramatic lighting changes, and no theatrical nonsense. What you get is something far more powerful: a real person standing in front of an audience, working to bring through messages from those in the spirit realm.

Throughout the evening, the medium will move around the room, connecting with different audience members and delivering messages from loved ones who have passed. These messages can be incredibly specific, covering names, personalities, shared memories, and details that simply couldn't be guessed. Some people receive a message directly; others experience the evening by witnessing the connections made around them. Both experiences can be equally moving.

Everything runs purely for entertainment purposes, so there's no pressure to believe anything you don't feel comfortable with. You're there to experience something different, and that's more than enough reason to show up.

How to Prepare Before the Night

Book your ticket online in advance. Most events sell out, so leaving it to chance isn't a great idea. Once you've booked through jodiegoddenmedium.com, all you need to do is turn up on the night with your email address and you'll be found on the booking system quickly and easily. No printing, no faff.

Arrive with an open mind. This one sounds obvious, but it genuinely matters. If you spend the whole evening with your arms folded waiting to be proven wrong, you'll likely miss the subtler moments that make these events so special. You don't have to believe wholeheartedly; you just have to be willing to listen.

Think about who you'd love to hear from. Some people find it helpful to hold a particular person in their thoughts during the evening. Whether it's a grandparent, a friend, or a partner, keeping that connection warm in your heart can make the experience feel more personal, even if you don't receive a direct message on the night.

Bring tissues. Seriously. Even if you're not the emotional type, watching someone else receive a deeply personal message from a loved one can hit you somewhere unexpected.

What to Do If You Receive a Reading

If the medium comes to you, try not to panic. It's natural to feel a sudden rush of adrenaline, but take a breath. You'll be asked to confirm or deny the details being shared with you, and honesty is key. Don't try to make things fit if they don't, and equally, don't dismiss something just because you're nervous.

A simple yes or no is all that's needed in most cases. The medium isn't looking for a lengthy explanation; they're building a picture from the information they're receiving. Your honest responses help guide that process.

If something doesn't make sense to you in the moment, don't write it off. Quite often, people recall a specific detail later in the evening or speak to a family member afterwards and find that everything clicks into place.

Why Lincolnshire Is Having a Moment for Spiritual Events

There's something quietly wonderful happening across Lincolnshire's spiritual community right now. More people than ever are attending live mediumship evenings, not just as a one-off curiosity, but as a regular part of their social and spiritual lives. Venues throughout the county are filling up quickly, and the appetite for genuine, authentic experiences keeps growing.

Part of that momentum comes from word of mouth. When someone attends an evening and walks away genuinely moved by what they witnessed, they tell people. Friends tell friends, and before long you've got waiting lists and sold-out events becoming the norm rather than the exception.

If you're looking for events in the Ruskington area and across wider Lincolnshire, visiting our events page is the best place to see what's coming up and grab your spot before they're gone.

A Few Things That Might Surprise You

The atmosphere is warm, not spooky. People often expect a live mediumship evening to feel eerie or unsettling. In practice, these evenings are full of laughter, warmth, and a real sense of community among the audience. You're in a room full of people who are all there for the same reason, and that shared experience creates something genuinely lovely.

Not everyone will receive a personal message. This is worth knowing before you go, because expecting a one-to-one reading from a live event can lead to disappointment. The medium is working with an entire audience, so while some people will receive direct messages, others will simply witness the connections being made. Both experiences have their own kind of value.

You're allowed to be sceptical. There's no admission requirement of unwavering belief. Sceptics attend these evenings all the time, and more than a few of them leave with a lot more to think about than they expected.

Ready to Experience It for Yourself?

There's genuinely nothing quite like sitting in a room and watching someone receive a message that could only have come from someone they loved and lost. It's the kind of thing you can't fully explain in words, which is exactly why people keep coming back.

If you're ready to see what all the conversation is about, check out our upcoming events at jodiegoddenmedium.com and secure your ticket. All events are run for entertainment purposes only, and all you need to bring is yourself and an open heart.

  • Balancing Life and Work as a Spiritual Medium

Being a spiritual medium is a profound and fulfilling calling, but it can also be energetically draining and challenging to balance with everyday life. The nature of mediumship requires deep emotional, mental, and spiritual engagement, making it essential to find harmony between work and personal well-being. Here are some key strategies to maintain balance while staying true to your spiritual path.

    1. Set Clear Boundaries

As a spiritual medium, it’s important to set firm boundaries between your personal life and your work. Schedule specific hours for readings and spiritual sessions, and ensure you have dedicated time for yourself and your loved ones. Just as a doctor or therapist wouldn’t see clients at all hours, you too must protect your time and energy.

    2. Prioritise Self-Care

Engaging with spirit and providing guidance to others requires a great deal of energy. Regular self-care practices, such as meditation, grounding exercises, yoga, or even simple walks in nature, can help you stay centered. Pay attention to your physical health as well—adequate sleep, proper nutrition, and hydration are essential to maintaining your energy levels.

    3. Manage Emotional Energy

Being a medium means dealing with intense emotions, both from the spirit world and from your clients. To avoid burnout, practice energetic cleansing techniques such as smudging with sage, taking salt baths, or using crystals like black tourmaline for protection. Journaling or speaking with a trusted friend or mentor can also help process emotions healthily.

    4. Create a Support System

Surround yourself with people who understand and respect your work. Having a support network from your family, fellow mediums, spiritual mentors, or understanding friends can provide emotional strength. It’s also beneficial to have someone to talk to when you need to decompress after particularly intense sessions.

    5. Stay Grounded in Daily Life

Balancing work as a medium with everyday responsibilities means staying present in your personal life. Engage in hobbies, spend time with family, and participate in activities that bring joy and relaxation. Maintaining connections with the physical world ensures you don’t become overwhelmed by spiritual work.

    6. Honor Your Own Spiritual Growth

While helping others is a key part of mediumship, your own spiritual development is equally important. Set aside time for personal meditation, study, and reflection to deepen your connection with spirit. Continue learning through books, workshops, or guidance from experienced mentors.

    7. Know When to Say No

Not every client or opportunity will align with your energy or purpose. Trust your intuition when deciding which sessions to take on, and don’t be afraid to say no if something doesn’t feel right. Protecting your well-being ensures you can continue serving others effectively without depleting yourself.

    Final Thoughts

Being a spiritual medium is a beautiful and sacred path, but it requires conscious effort to maintain balance. By setting boundaries, prioritising self-care, and staying grounded, you can create a fulfilling practice that aligns with both your spiritual mission and your personal well-being. Remember, taking care of yourself allows you to be of greater service to others.

  • I Need to Share This With You All!

Last week, I was chatting with someone (can’t for the life of me remember who now!) about how I never see energy behind my eyes anymore when I’m drifting off to sleep or relaxing. It used to happen all the time—my eyes would flicker like crazy, and I’d see all the chakra colours from my aura, swirling and vibrant. I would even see all the faces of spirit people that had been waiting to connect after a platform demo and I would repeatedly be saying sorry to each on of them that I hadn’t managed to speak with them. 😢 But over the years, it all just gently faded away. Spirit didn’t need to get my attention that way anymore, and I accepted it as part of my journey.

You see, it takes a lot of energy for spirit to get through to us in that way. Every ounce they use to catch our attention is energy they can’t use to deliver the messages we need. So when the flickers and faces faded away, I trusted that it was simply no longer necessary for me.

    But this week? Something shifted.

I’ve had a string of restless nights—something I usually find frustrating. But instead of feeling annoyed, I’ve been connecting it to the full moon and a shift in my energy and vibration. And guess what? The energy behind my eyes is back! I’ve been seeing flickers, faces, and flashes of light one after the other, just like I used to. It’s as if spirit is reminding me to stay open, to trust the flow of energy, and to believe that these connections come when the time is right. Plus Quigg was obviously earwigging into my conversation and though let’s remind her of her younger days!

So, I’m sharing this as a little reminder for anyone who feels like they’re “missing” something in their spiritual journey: just because it’s not happening now doesn’t mean it won’t happen again. Stay open, stay patient, and trust the process. Spirit always knows what we need and when we need it.

Please share this with anyone that needs reminding that life needs to change to grow.

    Much love,

    Jodie xx

  • Hello!

Blog Post: A New Chapter Begins – Hello from Jodie!

    Hello there!

If you’re reading this, welcome to my brand-new corner of the internet! It’s a space I’ve created to share stories, insights, and perhaps even a sprinkle of spirit-filled magic. Whether you’ve been following my journey for a while or have only just discovered me, I’m so happy you’re here.

Let me introduce myself properly. My name is Jodie, and I’ve been a spiritual medium for over 20 years. Though I’ve spent countless evenings connecting loved ones across the veil, speaking in front of audiences, and listening to spirits share their stories, starting this blog feels like a new adventure. So, grab a cuppa (or something stronger!) and let’s dive into how I got here.

I’ve been aware of spirits for as long as I can remember—chatting away with my imaginary friend at just four years old like it was the most normal thing in the world. Turns out, it wasn’t just imaginary after all. At 14, my spirit guide—a very proper Victorian gentleman with a surprising knack for gossip—gave me my first memorable message, and boy, was it a juicy one! you can read more about that on my about me page! Fast forward a few years to 18, when a rather unexpected encounter (a man standing at the end of my bed!) became the spark that led me to the local spiritualist church. That’s where I began honing my natural abilities, under the kind guidance of my mentor, Judy.

Of course, the road hasn’t always been smooth. If you’d told 20-year-old me that I’d one day be standing on stage in front of a room full of strangers, delivering messages from their loved ones, I’d have laughed nervously and probably run the other way! But spirit has a funny way of pushing us out of our comfort zones. And I’m so glad they did. Today, platform work—standing before an audience to pass on messages of love and connection—is one of my greatest joys.

Over the years, life has taught me a lot. From raising my beautiful twin daughters (now 18 and full of their own dreams) to navigating a divorce and rediscovering myself, I’ve grown stronger and more in tune with the life I’m meant to lead. I’m now remarried to my incredible husband, Rob, who has been my rock for over 10 years. With his support, and a bit of menopause fog to keep things interesting, I’m diving headfirst into this exciting new chapter.

These days, you’ll find me organizing more mediumship events across Lincolnshire and dreaming about expanding my work even further. (And yes, if you’re in the market for a house, mine might just be up for grabs soon—spirit moves us in mysterious ways!)

When I’m not connecting with the spirit world, I love spending time with my family, exploring new restaurants with Rob (his absolute favourite pastime), or getting stuck into a creative hobby. My latest passion? Clay pottery! Who knew getting your hands dirty could be so therapeutic?

This blog will be my way of keeping you up to date on my journey, sharing tales from my events, and maybe even giving you a peek behind the scenes of life as a medium.

If you’ve made it this far, thank you for joining me. Whether you’re curious about the spirit world, a fellow believer, or simply here to say hello, I’m thrilled to have you along for the ride.

Here’s to new beginnings and connecting in ways we’ve never done before. I can’t wait to see where this journey takes us.

    Until next time,
    Jodie xxx
